Burnetta Franklin Rankins

May 3, 1928 — January 8, 2026

Burnetta Franklin Rankins was born on May 3, 1928, and passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. Her life was a testimony of gratitude for God’s love and mercy, and she departed this life without pain or physical sickness.

Burnetta was remarkably gifted and talented in many areas, including crafting—such as ceramics, sewing, and knitting—gardening and caring for plants, building, painting, community service, finance, and homemaking. Following the early and unexpected death of her father, 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 became one of her cherished Bible passages, alongside John 3:16 and John 14:1–3, which remained close to her heart throughout her life.

During her later years, Burnetta was lovingly cared for by her daughter, who applied natural remedies rooted in God’s provisions for health and healing. Through the use of herbs and plants, along with the principles of NEWS—Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunshine, and Supplements—her care reflected a belief in supporting the body naturally rather than relying on medications that may have harmful side effects.

She was a devoted wife for over 60 years and a loving mother of seven children, with one additional child welcomed through adoption. After the passing of her husband in 2010 and during the progression of dementia, Burnetta found contentment watching a variety of programs on 3ABN.org. Religious music was a constant and comforting presence in her daily life until the very end.

Burnetta lived beyond her 96th birthday, defying a hospice nurse’s prediction that she would not see it. Her family gives all praise and thanks to God for her life, her strength, and her enduring faith.

She leaves to mourn her passing one brother and two sisters, as well as three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, three daughters and four sons; one son preceded her in death. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with extended family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Her celebration of life will take place at Baton Rouge Seventh-day Adventist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on February 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Church Contact Number - 225-747-0644.
