John Thomas Avants, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on July 26, 2023, at the age of 49. John will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Born on July 7, 1974, John had a vibrant personality that drew people towards him. He had a genuine love for people and formed many deep and lasting friendships throughout his life. John always had an open heart and was known for his kindness and compassion towards others.
In addition to his warm personality, John had several hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. He loved the thrill of riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, feeling the wind in his hair as he explored the open road. Hunting and fishing were also passions of his, allowing him to connect with nature and find solace in its beauty.
John's strong bond with his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a devoted husband to Linda Faye Avants and a loving father to his son, Johnathan Threeton. His parents James and Debbie Montgomery were always a source of strength and support for him, guiding him through life's challenges with unwavering love. John shared a special connection with his brothers Charles D. Avants and Dave Montgomery, cherishing the memories they created together. Additionally, he found comfort in the presence of his stepsister Selena Ann Picou.
Reflecting on John's life also means acknowledging the influence of those who came before him. He carried with him the cherished memories of his grandparents Oze Henry Avants and Faye Evelyn Avants. The guidance provided by Little Junior Avants and Uirl Ray Avants, his two uncles, left an indelible mark on John's character. His dear aunts Zola Kay Avants and Donna Marie Craig also played significant roles in shaping the person he became. Furthermore, Michael Montgomery, John's stepbrother, held a special place in his heart.
To honor John's life and memory, family and friends are invited to participate in several upcoming services. The visitation will take place on August 1, 2023, at the House of Prayer in Walker, Louisiana, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This will be an opportunity for loved ones to come together and share their fondest memories of John.
A funeral service will follow on August 2, 2023, also at the House of Prayer in Walker. Beginning at 1:00 PM, this solemn ceremony will celebrate John's life and provide closure for those grieving his loss. Attendees will have the chance to pay their final respects and reflect on the impact he made during his time with us.
Following the funeral service, John will be laid to rest at House of Prayer Cemetery in Walker. The interment ceremony will begin at 2:45 PM, providing a tranquil space for family and friends to say their final goodbyes.
John Thomas Avants leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. He touched the hearts of everyone he encountered and will forever hold a special place in our lives. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on in our hearts.
