2 Timothy 4:6-8
6. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Leonia Butler Holiday, a former Consultant of the Central New Orleans-Bogalusa District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and a resident of Greensburg, LA, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the age of 85.
Leonia leaves to cherish her memory four children: Carolyn (Jarvis) Manning, John Jr. (Doretta), Carl (Deonne), and Donna (Timothy) Jackson; ten grandchildren: Deondra (Theo), Jarvis Jr., Travis (Charkayla), Jonquel, Dominique, Darius, Chloe, Brittney, Caura, and Timothy Jr.; and six great-grandchildren: Travis Jr., Cara, Kaelynn, Daila, Journey,and Kayson; two brothers: Bernard (Alice) Butler and Roosevelt Butler; two sisters: Johnnie (Wilbert) Knox and Zella Minter; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Leonia was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John K. Holiday, her parents, Clarence and Elvenar Butler, a daughter, Barbara, two brothers, John and LeRoy, and a godson, Patrick.
A celebration of life will be held with visitation on Thursday, June 29th from 2:00 to 7:00PM, and Friday, June 30th from 9:00 to 10:55AM. The religious service will begin at 11:00AM, at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, at the Greensburg location. Interment in Black Creek AME Church Cemetery, 217 Black Creek Church Lane, Greensburg, LA; Rev. Ranches Hall, Pastor.
