Mearn "Sweet Boy" Tanner was born November 8, 1924 in Greensburg, LA. He went to meet his Savior on April 30, 2013 surrounded by family and friends at his home in Greensburg, LA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. As a successful retired businessman, he lived his life to the fullest and was a great joy to those who were blessed to have known him. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 69 years Mayola J. Tanner; Ten (10) loving children, Enola (Rev. Elijah) Harvey, Marvin (Ora Lee) Tanner, Lathin (Lillian) Tanner, Evelyn (Willie) Morgan, Othel Tanner, Greensburg, LA, Mearn Ray Tanner, Myrtle (Fritz) Hurst, Vereta T. Lee, Emma Tanner, Baton Rouge, LA, and Edward Tanner, Atlanta, GA; five sister-in-laws, Iola Matthews, Inez Jackson, Thelma Jackson, Greensburg, LA, Mae Ella West, Baton Rouge, LA, and Gladys Doughty Detroit, MI; (38) grandchildren, (51) great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, one niece Hazel T. Gotch, one nephew James R. Tanner, several devoted cousins, other relatives and friends, and a special and caring granddaughter Wilishia J. Morgan. He is preceded in death by his parents Emma Chaney and Silas Tanner, one sister, Iona T. (Mack) Pitts, mother and father-in-law, Myrtle (Alton) Jackson, one sister-in-law, Olevia Jackson, five brother-in-laws, Rev. B.W. West, Alfred Jackson, Charlie Matthews, Jerome Doughty Sr., and Lemard Jackson, one son-in-law, Melvin Lee and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held @ Jackson Chapel I.M.E. Church on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 PM at 77 Jackson Chapel Road.

Funeral services will be conducted @ 11:00 AM; Saturday, May 11, 2013 by Rev. Elijah Harvey, Jr. Interment will follow at Tanner Family Cemetery. The arrangements will be entrusted to MJR Friendly Services 87 Paddio-Johnson Lane Greensburg, LA.
