Naquellar “Nikki” Jovan Martin-Thompson, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on January 16, 2026. She was born on August 19, 1982, to Mary Ann M. Albritton and the late George Lee Taylor, Sr. in New Orleans, Louisiana at LSU Medical Center. She was the youngest of nine children. Nikki attended St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School, graduating with honors in May of 2000. During her high school years, she joined the track relay team, discovered her athletic niche and rose to become an exceptional track star. Following high school, she continued her education at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA., earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Journalism in December 2006, and later completed the AAS Process Technology Program at South Central Louisiana Technical College, receiving her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Process Technology in May 2019. Nikki was united in holy matrimony to Jordan J. Thompson in 2006, from their union, three children were born. She was the CEO, Owner & Operator of Veganish Vibes, located at 4608 Bennington Ave Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70808, for the past several years. In 2025, her restaurant, Veganish Vibes won the 225 Award for Best Vegan Restaurant in Baton Rouge, LA. Cooking was her true passion, passed down and cultivated by her mother, whose restaurant- Nonna’s Café in Amite, LA, she managed for several years. She also enjoyed pouring into her kids’ academic and extracurricular activities. Naquellar leaves to cherish a devoted husband, Jordan J. Thompson; her beloved children, Eri Jae-Elisian Thompson, Ean Jordan-Elijah Thompson, and Emir James-Eli Thompson; a loving mother, Mary Ann M. Albritton; stepfather, William Albritton, Sr.. She was the youngest of nine siblings, which includes five brothers: Lejuan F. Jones of Hammond, LA, George Taylor, Jr. of Greensburg, LA, Glen Taylor, Sr. of Denham Springs, LA, Geoffrey (Carolyn) Taylor of Greensburg, LA; and Bryant Davis of New Orleans, LA; leaving behind two sisters, Katenia (Wilbert) Chaney of Greensburg, LA, and Shannon Amacker of Katy, TX; one aunt, Thelma T. Kendrick of Greensburg, LA and one uncle, Willie James Martin of Detroit, MI; She also leaves behind her godchildren, Maali Delayne Baker, Queyla Varnado, and Jenna MarTina Gordon; mother-in-law, Cecile S. Thompson of Marrero, LA and her father-in-law, Darnel Thompson, Sr. of Gretna, LA; one brother-in-law, Darnel (LaTaria) Thompson, Jr. of Marrero, LA; one sister-in-law, Sabrina Thompson of Katy, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Naquellar was preceded in death by her daughters, Ahdeja Naquell-L’eon Martin-Robertson and Ahnali Samauri-G’eon Martin-Robertson; father, George Lee Taylor, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Johnnie Martin, Sr. and Gussie W. Martin; paternal grandparents, George “Buddy” Taylor and Zelma M. Taylor; three uncles, Johnnie Martin, Jr., Leroy Martin, and Percy Taylor; sister, Consuelo T. Jackson; her niece, Goslynne Elon-Amiko Hitchen; nephew, Jordan Taylor; great niece, Maecyn Delon Hitchen; and other relatives.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Faith Temple Church, 11605 Fontana Ln., Independence, La at 9 am until the religious service at 11 am. Pastor Gregory Edwards will be officiating the service. Interment will be in Mt. Zion and Greater Refuge Temple Cemetery, 36010 Hwy 16, Montpelier, LA 70422 with a reception to immediately follow at 12893 Hwy 10, Greensburg, LA 70441.
