“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4: 7-8
Russell Ann Fisher Buckner, age 71, was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She gained her heavenly wings and was received into the loving arms of our Lord, entering eternal rest.
Russell Ann was born on August 1, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Tony Alfred Fisher, Sr. and Mary Lee Washington Fisher. At a young age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized, establishing a foundation of faith that guided her throughout her entire life. This early foundation shaped her unwavering faith and spirituality.
She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and remained a faithful and dedicated member up to her passing. She served as a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church Music Ministry. Her gift for music was a special talent she shared generously. She was also a member of the Geran Singers under the Leadership of Naomi Geran until the group dismantled. Russell also served as a Steward at her church.
Russell Ann is a proud 1972 graduate of Scotlandville High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She furthered her education at The Southern University A&M College. She started her career at Greenwell Springs Psychiatric Hospital until the time of her retirement.
Her life was short, but it was well lived and those who knew her best, she will be long remembered. She had a kind heart and an infectious laugh. She touched many lives during her seemingly short life. She possessed the quality of genuine friendship and was dearly loved by those who knew her best.
As her health began to deteriorate, on occasions, she would say, "Jesus say, "Come home." On Sunday, the night of July 5, 2026, God in his infinite wisdom called Russell Ann from labor to reward. Her life is celebrated and her memory is cherished by her devoted son, Allen Leroy Buckner, Jr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three brothers, Gregory (Sharon) Fisher, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Dawn (Gilda) Fisher, Harpers Ferry, Virginia; and Ricky Fisher, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Sister-in-law, Dr. Patricia H. Fisher, Norfolk, Virginia; extended family and friends, Deirdre Robinson, Patricia Palmer, Hazel Peterson, Saturn Douglas, Jacques James and Justin Joseph; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Russell Ann was preceded in death by her spouse, Allen Leroy Bucker, Sr., her loving parents, Tony Alfred Fisher, Sr. and Mary Lee Washington Fisher, and two brothers, Tony Alfred Fisher, Jr. and Grayland Anthony Fisher.
