Vincent “Sweet Pea” “Tip” Matthews, Jr. peacefully departed this life at home on Monday, June 27, 2022. Vincent was preceded in death by his father, Vincent “Bo Pete” Matthews, Sr.; stepfather, Curtis Smith, Sr.; brothers, Curtis Smith, Jr., and Orlando Matthews; sister, Carol Johnson; father-in-law, Samuel Cheatham; mother-in-law, Gussie Mahoney Cheatham Ott; grandparents, Emmett Matthews, Doris Richardson Jones, Moran Jones, Edward Roddy, and Clarie Earnest Roddy; uncles, Ruenell Rudison, Mack Fair (Godfather) and Willie Bishop; aunt, Francis Bishop. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Andrea Cheatham Matthews; sons, Princeton Jeremiah Matthews, and Jordan Christopher Matthews; mother, LáVerne Roddy Matthews Smith; siblings, Demetreus Matthews, Donald Johnson, Broderick Matthews, Sonja Johnson, Germaine (Roger) Griffin and Termaine (Letarsha) Johnson; stepmother, Willie B. Matthews; stepmother-in-law, Marilyn Nellum Cheatham; Godmother and aunt, Missionary Neoma Roddy Fair; aunts, Bernice Richardson and Thelma Rudison; sisters-in-law, Missionary Danette Cheatham Davis and Diana Fields; brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Fields and Kevin Nellum; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
