Charles Muse, Jr.
CFSP, Owner-Licensed Funeral Director and Mortician
Charles W. Muse, Jr. is the youngest of five children and the only son born to Charlie and Doretha A. Muse. He was educated in the St. Helena Parish public school system and graduated from Helena High School. It was during the 10th grade that Charles discovered his calling to become a mortician—a decision that would shape the rest of his life.
He pursued formal training in Mortuary Science at Commonwealth College of Science in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1964. Charles then completed his apprenticeship as a Funeral Director under C.H. Miller and as an Embalmer under Clyde Yancy at Miller Funeral Home in Clinton, Louisiana. Under their guidance, he received his state licensure in Louisiana in 1968.
In addition to his early licensure, Charles continued to grow professionally and became a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner in 2005.
On January 15, 1968, Charles purchased Friendly Service Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA, laying the foundation for a lasting legacy. He later expanded the business, adding MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home in 1998, and further extending his impact with a new location in Greensburg, LA, opened in January 2007.
Charles is a dedicated member of the Louisiana Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and currently serves as District Governor for the 6th District, which includes Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas.
A man of strong faith, Charles is a faithful member of Greater Turner Chapel AME Church in Greensburg, LA.
Through hard work, unwavering faith, and the grace of God, Charles W. Muse, Jr. has built and sustained a successful minority-owned business—serving families with compassion, professionalism, and dignity for more than five decades.
