MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home is a full-service funeral establishment offering personal, distinctive, and affordable services to families of all backgrounds. Listed below is an outline of some of the services we offer.
Traditional Services
Traditional funeral services are established by one’s cultural or religious customs. These services include a time for families, friends and love ones to gather for a visitation, farewell visit or viewing of the remains. These services include a funeral at the funeral home or at a church, with the casketed remains present. A procession to a cemetery, or place of final disposition, follows the funeral service. Traditional funeral services are usually public, but can be private.
Graveside Services
A graveside service can follow a traditional funeral, can precede a memorial service, or can be a stand-alone event by request of family. The service will be held at the gravesite, or at the crypt where the body or cremated remains will be interred. In general, graveside services tend to be fairly brief. The funeral officiate will likely recite prayers or readings, a eulogy may be delivered, and the body will be lowered into the ground or placed in the crypt. In many cultures it is customary to have guests participate in shoveling dirt into the grave.
Memorial Services
Memorial services take place after the body has been buried or cremated, so there will be no body at the service (though cremated remains may be present at the service). During the service, people may say prayers, deliver eulogies, read passages from scripture or literature, or sing songs. Memorial services may take place soon after the death, or may take place on anniversaries of the person's death. Memorial services may be held in traditional locations, such as a religious place of worship, or in a location with personal significance, such as a park or a family home or sites requested by family.
Cremation
Many families are now considering cremation. There are many options available to you through our funeral home. You have unlimited options for memorialization when making cremation arrangements. There is no standard cremation arrangement. Our experienced funeral directors and staff will assist you in developing a customized cremation service that is right for you and your family.

Out-of-Town Arrangements
When a death occurs outside our community, you can rely on our funeral home to handle the details. We can arrange services or burials according to your wishes almost anywhere. In this way, we can help you avoid duplication of effort, unnecessary expense, anxiety, and needless travel. Transportation can be arranged for the deceased one and escorted in the state of Louisiana.
